An Eid in Lockdown
This year, Eid has been very different all over the world. The coronavirus epidemic became a barrier for many to spend their Eid day with as much fun as they normally would- especially children.
Keeping children indoors and entertained was a troubling task for many. We all asked ourselves the same question: “How could we make our children still have fun on an Eid like this?”
For Eid al- Fitr 2020, we made Eid fun packs full of fun activities for children. The pack was downloaded by over 1500 parents from all around the world! It contained fun activities such as a treasure hunt, Eid card, quizes, riddles and a scavenger hunt.
We also held our very first Eid Art Competition for children. Each child was tasked with making some artwork surrounding one (or all) of the five pillars of Islam.
To submit artwork into the competition, we tried to make it as simple as possible. Parents would just have to take a picture of the artwork showing it is for the competition with the child’s name and age. This would then be submitted through email or WhatsApp.

We had over fifty entries from all over the world, all very unique. There were some very distinctive ideas and each piece of art had its own accomplishment.
Out of all of these entries, the top ten were chosen. These were then displayed for the public to vote on.
There was a lot of encouragement we saw from the public, and all together, there were over five thousand votes deciding the top five winners!
Each of the top five was then sent a prize and a certificate. Each prize was decided carefully to encourage the children and allow them to all enjoy their specific prize.

The purpose of the competition was to allow children all over the world to enjoy a friendly competition and allow the fun of Eid day to continue. We also wanted to teach our youth about Islam in a fun, engaging manner and encourage them to use their creativity in a beneficial way.
Alhamdulillah, overall, the competition was a huge success. The work and effort put in by all the children was fantastic and an amazing experience for everyone at Ad- Duha. The reaction of the public was very optimistic with a lot of positivity displayed for the hard work of all the children.
May Allah swt increase them in their love for Islam.
